Planned Parenthood will shutter five clinics across Northern California and the Central Coast following the loss of federal funding under a newly signed law by President Donald Trump, the organization confirmed Thursday.

Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast's Prevention Park and Southwest centers will close on September 30. Meanwhile, Planned Parenthood's Texas affiliate also will take over operations at the Houston-area's four other clinics -- Spring, Stafford, Northwest and Northville -- in October.

Several Planned Parenthood clinics are already closing after Republicans’ massive tax law immediately cut off Medicaid funds to the organization for one year. Facilities in at least three states announced closures amid a challenging legislative and legal environment that came to a head after Congress banned organizations from receiving Medicaid dollars for other services if
