ACCESS Shelter has received a $1.25 million grant through the Bezos Day 1 Families Fund (a charity started by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos). The shelter is using the funds to expand its footprint by 80 percent and provide wraparound services to women and children in need.

AKRON, Ohio — With dangerously cold temperatures bringing sub-zero wind chills to all of Northeast Ohio, the Akron Zoo has announced it will be closed both Tuesday (Jan. 27) and Wednesday (Jan. 28). "The zoo will reevaluate on Thursday," according to a press release from the Akron Zoo.

A 21-year-old man was found shot to death inside an Akron apartment building Sunday evening.

AKRON, Ohio — Akron homicide detectives are investigating after a 21-year-old man was found shot to death on Sunday. According to the Akron Police Department, it happened at an apartment complex in the 400 block of Sherman Street, just a few blocks away from the University of Akron.
