Washington has requested unconditional release waivers on first baseman Nathaniel Lowe, days after it designated him for assignment. “We have young players, and I think we want to see them play,” interim manager Miguel Cairo said earlier this week after the team DFA’d Lowe to make room for the return of Dylan Crews.

Following the MLB Draft and the trade deadline, both Baseball America and MLB Pipeline updated their farm system rankings. Despite the Nationals having the number 1 pick and having a strong draft, their system is ranked in the bottom half of baseball.
