Sandringham estate: The Queen’s favourite retreat where Andrew will live after leaving Royal Lodge
Prince Andrew is set to relocate to King Charles’s 8,000-hectare Sandringham estate in Norfolk after it was announced that he is to leave the 30-room Royal Lodge in Windsor and be stripped of his remaining titles.
It is understood that Andrew will move to a property on the Sandringham Estate, which will be funded privately by the King.
Sandringham has been part of the royal family’s private residences since 1862, when Queen Victoria purchased the estate for her son, Albert Edward, the Prince of Wales — later King Edward VII — and his soon-to-be wife, Princess Alexandra of Denmark, per Visit Norfolk.
After the King’s dramatic decision to take action against his brother, the former duke of York is now known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.
