What the Big Ten might be missing this weekend with lopsided matchups and bye weeks, the SEC makes up for with three ranked-vs.-ranked games carrying playoff implications.
The SEC has 2 matchups in Week 10 involving ranked teams, as Vanderbilt takes on Texas (noon ET, ABC) in Austin and Oklahoma plays at Tennessee (7:30 pm ET, ABC). Among the other ranked teams in action in Week 10 are Georgia, which plays Florida in Jacksonville (3:30 pm ET, ABC) and Ole Miss, which hosts South Carolina (7 pm ET, ESPN).
The most challenging playoff fight to figure out comes at the Group of Five level, where the Memphis Tigers replaced the South Florida Bulls in the Week 10 AP Top 25.
Vanderbilt football is still outside the top 10 in the US LBM Coaches Poll, moving up one spot to No. 11 after a 17-10 win over Missouri. The Commodores remained in the top 10 of the AP Poll, moving up one spot to No. 9.
The latest AP Top 25 sees the SEC's primary contenders begin to form some separation towards the top of the rankings.
E ach week, I join 65 other AP voters and submit my Top 25. The process has gotten easier as the season has gone on because we have so many more results and so much more information to base that ballot on.
