A group of Venezuelan men urgently filed requests to the US Supreme Court, an appeals court and two federal courts to block their imminent deportation, saying President Donald Trump’s administration appears poised to send them to a notorious prison in El Salvador without the required chance for judicial review.

The Trump administration is preparing to deport a new group of Venezuelan men detained in Texas, said the ACLU in an emergency Friday court filing.

The US Supreme Court has ordered a temporary halt to deportations of Venezuelans under an 18th century wartime law. It comes after a US senator travelled to El Salvador to meet Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who is being held in prison there after being wrongly deported from the US.
