The UConn women's basketball team rose to No. 1 in the Associated Press poll for the first time on Jan. 17, 1995. A day later, the Huskies rolled past Boston College at Conte Forum for their first win as the top-ranked team. No one has been No. 1 more weeks than UConn. No one has won more games as the No. 1 team than the Huskies.

The No. 1 UConn women’s basketball team (17-0, 8-0) defeated the Creighton Bluejays (7-10, 3-5) 95-54 in the battle of turnovers. Despite a messy 21-turnover clash, Connecticut still dominated the court and handed the Bluejays a 41-point loss.

UConn women’s basketball fell back into its bad habit of sloppy, sluggish starts against Creighton in its first Big East road trip of 2026. The Huskies were slow on defense and discombobulated on offense. A lack of connection allowed turnovers to stack up while the Bluejays tied the game early.

The turn of the new year has brought nothing but drama to the women’s college basketball landscape. As conference play hits full swing, the latest AP Top 25 poll reflects a week where the untouchables proved to be anything but.
