A rare red warning for “dangerous, stormy” winds has been issued by the Met Office for part of the UK with Storm Goretti already bringing 99mph gusts.The warning, from 4pm until 11pm on Thursday, says “violent gusts” over two to three hours will hit parts of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
While rain and snow associated with Storm Goretti are forecast to clear eastward during Friday night, forecasters said the cold is expected to linger. Below-average temperatures are likely to persist through the weekend, with the risk of further snow on Sunday into Monday.
