President Donald Trump signed an executive order to instruct the Pentagon and the Department of Homeland Security to prepare a 30,000-person migrant facility at the Guantánamo Bay Naval Base in Cuba.

He announced the move during a ceremony in which he signed another immigration detention measure into law called the Laken Riley Act. Trump said the "migrant facility" at Guantanamo Bay will be used to "detain the worst criminal illegal aliens threatening the American people.

The immigrants living in the U.S. illegally who will be sent to the detention facility are those who have committed crimes, President Trump said.
