Former Alabama football star quarterback benched by NFL team
The Miami Dolphins are benching sixth-year quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Wednesday, one day after coach Mike McDaniel told reporters that "everything's on the table" after his team's 28-15 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football.
Tagovailoa joined Miami from Alabama as the fifth pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He’s been the Dolphins’ starting quarterback, when healthy, since the seventh game of his rookie season.
McCoy's criticism comes after the former Alabama Crimson Tide star threw for two TDs and a pick. Tagovailoa's furthest throw was a 29-yard pass, and McCoy believes that his small hands are a reason for his inability to thread the needle deep.
