Mbeumo rubbed shoulders with Ronaldo on three occasions after he returned to Old Trafford in 2021. The first two outings ended in Brentford defeats before a truly seismic afternoon at the Gtech Community Stadium in August 2022 which saw Mbeumo score the final goal in a 4–0 thrashing of United.

The Cameroonian forward was unveiled on Monday evening and joined his first training session the very next morning after completing his long-awaited transfer from the west London club. Mbeumo joined the squad who flew out to America on Tuesday, where they will take part in the Premier League Summer Series and face West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton.
