ROME and NEW YORK -- Pope Leo XIV appointed on Thursday Bishop Ronald A. Hicks as archbishop of New York, moving a fellow Chicagoan to one of the highest Catholic posts in the United States.

The just-appointed Archbishop of New York, Bishop Ronald Hicks, is ready to take the Big Apple and its famed pizza, revealing Thursday that he and Pope Leo share the same favorite pie joint back in their hometown of Chicago.

Pope Leo has accepted Carinal Timothy Dolan's resignation Dec. 18 and announced a replacement for the Archdiocese of New York.
