Forecasters say Erin will likely become a hurricane in a couple of days, but it's still too early to determine what sort of impacts the storm could have, if any, on the U.S. East Coast.

Gradual strengthening was forecast over the next several days, and forecasters said Erin could reach hurricane intensity by the latter part of the week.
