Williams team principal James Vowles has announced a long-term contract extension after joining the team in 2023. Vowles will continue leading the Grove-based outfit in its quest to become a championship-winning team.

LONDON (Reuters) -Williams team principal James Vowles has signed a new long-term contract, the former Formula One world champions said on Thursday. Vowles, 45, joined Williams from Mercedes in 2023 and has helped turn around their fortunes with the British-based team fifth overall after 10 of 24 races.

Vowles joined Williams in 2023 from Mercedes, where he held the role of motorsport strategy director, and had initially spoken about the daunting task he faced in turning the team around. The 45-year-old famously commented that much of the team’s car build was still run off an Excel spreadsheet.
