Jeff Kernodle was near Moscow the night of the murders, and said he wanted to check in on his daughter when she told him she was feeling sick.

A judge sentenced Bryan Kohberger to serve four life sentences without parole for the brutal stabbing deaths of four University of Idaho students nearly three years ago.

“Today I stand before you, the man that is responsible for murdering my beautiful daughter, Xana Kernodle. My daughter was beautiful inside and out.” She said that Xana brought joy and laughter to her friends, family and all who knew her. She said her faith has kept her strong through her healing.

Following Bryan Kohberger's life sentence, Moscow police released documents showing the brutality of his crimes, spying on police and accounts of strange, aggressive and bizarre behavior.

Kohberger was sentenced to life in prison for the stabbing murders of four University of Idaho students, one of whom was Goncalves' sister.

Though the motive behind Bryan Kohberger's violent attack remains unknown, the former police chief says "new information could come out still."
