ATHENS, Ga. — Asa Newell scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Georgia to a 71-60 victory over South Carolina on Tuesday night. Georgia (15-6, 3-5 Southeastern Conference) snapped a four-game skid while South Carolina (10-11, 0-8) extended its losing streak to eight games.
There is no gymnastics rivalry like that of Georgia and Alabama. The rivalry continues on Friday with its latest edition as the Bulldogs host the Crimson Tide. It all began in the late 1980s when the programs were at the top of their game.

On Friday the No. 10 Alabama Crimson Tide gymnastics team hosted the No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners. The meet ended with Alabama losing 197.55-196.3.  “We had some uncharacteristic mistakes,” head coach Ashley Johnston said of the team’s floor performance.
Alabama struggled early in its gymnastics meet against No.1 Oklahoma, 197.550-196.300. The Crimson Tide's score was its second highest of the season, up more than a full point from last week's total of 195.225 vs. Kentucky.
