PHILADLEPHIA (WPVI) -- A South Philadelphia neighborhood is mourning the loss of a woman who tragically passed away in a fire on Wednesday. The fire broke out on the first floor of a home in the 2700 block of South Darien Street around 10:45 a.m.

One woman is dead after a home in South Philadelphia erupted into flames on Wednesday. Firefighters rushed to the 2700 block of South Darien Street before 11 a.m. after getting word that people were possibly trapped inside.

A woman was found dead inside a home that caught fire in South Philadelphia, police said. On Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 10:41 a.m., firefighters responded to a reported house fire on the 2700 block of South Darien Street.
