U.S. Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) announced he will be running for the chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee. The NRSC works to elect Republicans to the Senate. In the 2024 general election, the GOP flipped seats in West Virginia, Montana and Ohio and will now control the Senate for the next two years.

Chairing the National Republican Senatorial Committee would put the former presidential candidate in charge of the GOP's efforts to retain its new Senate majority — and further his connections with big donors.

Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) officially rolled out his bid to run the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) on Friday, a move that would put him at the helm of the party’s midterm efforts to maintain and possibly grow its majority next cycle.
