Three people are dead in North Dakota, and tens of thousands are without power in northern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin after powerful winds swept across the upper Midwest Friday and overnight Saturday.

Bemidji was rocked by the derecho that ripped across North Dakota and Minnesota. The ferocious storms that pounded North Dakota and Minnesota Friday night into Saturday morning left three people dead along its path of destruction.

At least three people were killed in a small North Dakota town as tornadoes ripped through the state. All three victims lived in Enderlin, a town of 800 residents about 40 miles southwest of Fargo, according to the Cass County sheriff’s office. They have been publicly identified only as two men and a woman.
