The Powerball jackpot rose to $643 million for the Wednesday, Aug. 20, drawing after no one won the top prize on Monday, Aug. 18.
NEW YORK (WABC) -- The Powerball jackpot has surged to its biggest amount this year, reaching an estimated $643 million for Monday night's drawing. The jackpot has not been won since May 31, 2025. Since then, there have been 34 consecutive drawings without a grand prize winner.
There have been four Powerball jackpot winners this year, the last was the $204.5 million jackpot on May 31 won by a person in California, USA Today reported. Powerball costs $2 per play with an option of selecting a Power Play for an extra $1. In two states, Idaho and Montana, the Power Play is not optional, with each game costing $3.
The Powerball jackpot surged to its biggest amount of the year, reaching an estimated $605 million ahead of Monday night’s drawing. The pot grew after nobody won all six numbers from Saturday night’s drawing. The white balls were 23, 40, 49, 65 and 69. The red Powerball was 23.
