Giancarlo Stanton got two hits in his season debut for the Yankees against the Los Angeles Angels after missing New York’s first 70 games because of inflammation in the tendons of both elbows.

The Yankees needed a spark. A four-game losing streak had started to wear on the clubhouse, and the offense lacked the pop fans had grown used to. That changed Monday night, even if the result in the standings didn’t.
