Singaporeans need to vote for candidates who have built up trust and close relationships with counterparts in the U.S. and China, said Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on Thursday, urging voters to re-elect his cabinet at a May 3 poll.

Singaporeans will vote Saturday in a general election that is set to return to power the city-state’s long ruling party.

Samples from official vote counting in Singapore's election on Saturday showed the People's Action Party was on course for victory, as the party looked set to win its 14th successive ballot and extend its six-decade rule.
