Meteorologists are monitoring a third area in the northeastern Gulf, which has a low chance of developing between August 10 and 11. Slightly further out, meteorologists are tracking an area in the central Atlantic that has a medium risk of developing between August 13 and 15.

Three to five named storms are forecast by AccuWeather to form before the end of the month within the Atlantic basin. Some of these potential storms are even being eyed for the possibility of developing into a powerful hurricane.

Ivo was a tropical storm in the North Pacific Ocean Thursday afternoon Eastern time, the National Hurricane Center said in its latest advisory. Ivo is the ninth named storm to form in the Eastern Pacific in 2025.
