A U.S. judge on Thursday blocked parts of President Donald Trump's executive order seeking to impose new rules on federal elections, which Democrats and other groups said risked denying eligible citizens the right to vote.

The president does not have the authority to require proof of citizenship for all voters, a federal judge ruled.

The U.S. Election Assistance Commission’s Standards Board is a bipartisan advisory group of election officials.
