High temperatures on Thursday rose above 10° for the first time since Saturday. This does not mark the end of this bitterly cold stretch though. Friday morning will once again have air temperatures near -10° with a wind chill in the 20s below zero.

A common misconception resurfaces as temperatures drop: cold air makes people sick. Despite old sayings like “wear a coat, or you’ll catch a cold,” the truth is that frigid air does not transmit viruses.

We kept our streak of consecutive days with snowfall going on Thursday, with another batch of area-wide snow, which will be transitioning to some lake effect snow Thursday night and into Friday. Most areas will only see another coating to an inch or two before things wind down,

Good morning! We’ve declared today a Day for dangerously cold temperatures across our area. FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY: A Cold Weather Advisory is in place through 10 a.m. Friday due to the dangerously cold air that has settled in across the state.

The First Alert Weather Team is tracking light drizzles this evening and a freeze watch for Thursday night. The most significant rain is over. Light rain will remain in the area through the evening, so it will still be damp & cool.
