Minor geomagnetic storms could cause a brighter-than-usual northern lights display across the northern United States on Tuesday night.

The Northern Lights might be visible as far south as Norfolk if they appear in the skies above the UK tonight, an expert predicts. It’s not guaranteed, but a geomagnetic storm – caused by energy, blasted from the Sun to Earth in solar winds – mean you may see them if the conditions are right.

Displays of Northern Lights are possible overnight on Tuesday, March 4, into Wednesday, March 5, in some northerly U.S. states.

Auroral soundscapes go beyond simply listening to music or stories; they enhance the experience of witnessing the Northern Lights by engaging multiple senses. Scientists have recently confirmed that under specific conditions, the Northern Lights can generate faint sounds.

The northern lights may be visible as far south as New York and other parts of the northeast such as Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.

Monday’s forecast calls for low-end aurora borealis activity expected to increase significantly by Tuesday night.
