US President Donald Trump warned Wednesday that more punishment was coming for countries buying Russian energy products after slapping a 25% tariff on India that is supposed to go into effect Thursday.

In an executive order, Trump says "I find that the Government of India is currently directly or indirectly importing Russian Federation oil" and due to those purchases, imports of Indian goods into the United States "shall be subject to an additional ... rate of duty of 25%."

Donald Trump has announced that he will impose an additional 25 per cent tariff on imports from India due to its purchases of Russian oil. The US president made the move on Wednesday in an executive order that was published by the White House shortly after Steve Witkoff, a senior US envoy, met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.
