The latest round in the very syncopated Canadian-American tariff disagreements and discussions has more the air of oversized children in a sandbox hurling mud balls at each other than statesmen of governments of serious countries attempting to resolve a disagreement.

Prime Minister Mark Carney said on Friday that Canada stands ready to resume trade talks with the United States that President Donald Trump halted over an anti-tariff advertisement issued by Ontario's provincial government.

The Trump administration is widely expected to make a fresh agreement on trade this week with China, and U.S. stocks are rallying Monday.
