Tabon or the Philippine Megapode is a beach forest and small island specialist bird with unique breeding behavior. The name "tabon" means to cover and refers to the bird making nesting mounds of beach sands to bury its egg - same principle with sea turtles. When birds are not harmed and they feel safe, they freely roam along beach forests and small islands scratching for food among leaf litter.
