Today at Rivergate Park, 750 Great Lakes sturgeon were released into the Cuyahoga River as part of Sturgeon Fest. These “living fossils” have survived for over 150 million years and are a vital part of our freshwater ecosystems. Volunteers and families joined together to hold and gently release the fish, helping to support conservation efforts and the slow recovery of this threatened species.
