One of my favourite uses of the sit/stay command is when I’m getting ready for a walk. I put the dog in command thus giving him a meaningful job to do holding the obedience ‘sit’ and the state of mind of ‘calm’. Then I’m free to tie my shoes, get my coat and hat (and super cool, super coveted fanny pack 🤣) without the dog charging up with excitement, jumping in me or the door, or otherwise making it difficult to leave the house.
